Ric Roman Waugh

Ric Roman Waugh is an American filmmaker whose career spans decades, beginning as a stunt performer and coordinator before transitioning behind the camera. He first earned critical attention with his gritty, character-driven film Felon, starring Val Kilmer, followed by the acclaimed prison drama Shot Caller. Waugh went on to solidify his reputation in contemporary action cinema with Angel Has Fallen, the high-stakes third installment of the Has Fallen franchise; the global disaster thriller Greenland; and the action-drama Kandahar, all starring Gerard Butler. Their latest collaboration, Greenland: Migration, was released in January 2026. His additional directing credits include Snitch, starring Dwayne Johnson, and National Champions, featuring Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons. Waugh has recently teamed with Jason Statham on Shelter for Black Bear, a thriller about a reclusive man whose life unravels after rescuing a drowning girl. Waugh also recently launched CineMachineMedia Works, now under a first-look deal at Lionsgate. CineMachine is dedicated to producing elevated genre films rooted in socially resonant themes.
