Stavros Xenidis(1923-2008)

Stavros Xenidis was a Greek actor known for his extensive work in theater, film, and television. Trained at the Karolos Koun Art Theatre, he made his stage debut in 1944 and became a fixture in Greek theater, collaborating closely with Kostas Mousouris for over two decades. Xenidis appeared in more than 70 films, often in supporting roles alongside prominent comic actors, from To tragoudi tou ponou (1953) to Grafeio ideon (1989). On television, he was notable for his portrayal of Inspector Bekas in multiple adaptations of Giannis Maris’s works, including O thanatos tou Timotheou Konsta (1987), To mystiko tou Ari Bonsalenti (1990), and Mia gynaika apo to parelthon (1992). Celebrated for his naturalistic performances, he was honored with a special award at the 30th Thessaloniki Film Festival for his contributions to Greek cinema, and his career left a lasting imprint on the country’s performing arts.
