Michael Morrissey is an American writer, director, and producer from Brooklyn, New York. Raised in a working-class Irish-American family, he is known for grounded, character-driven thrillers that blend emotional realism with tense, cinematic storytelling, often exploring themes of guilt, redemption, and moral consequence.He wrote, directed, and produced the feature film Boy Wonder, which premiered to critical acclaim, earned multiple festival awards, and received three and a half stars out of four from Roger Ebert. He later wrote and directed the psychological horror-thriller The Girl Who Got Away, which reached the Top 10 films on Netflix, expanding his audience worldwide.A self-described comic book nerd with a lifelong love of genre storytelling, Morrissey trains in martial arts and boxing and coaches amateur fighters when he’s not writing or developing his next film.
