Makis Demiris(1939-1999)

Makis Demiris was a Greek actor who built a long presence in theater, cinema, and television, becoming especially recognizable through supporting and comic roles in popular Greek productions. A graduate of the drama school of Pellos Katselis and the Athens Conservatoire, he collaborated with some of the leading stars of Greek entertainment, including Aliki Vougiouklaki and Rena Vlahopoulou. Over the course of his career he appeared in dozens of films and television productions, among them the series I geitonia mas (1972), earning a reputation as a familiar and dependable character actor. During the 1980s he faced a serious health battle with throat cancer, eventually recovering and returning to work. He remained active in the artistic world for many years before dying suddenly from cardiac arrest at his home in 1999.
