Julia Gillard

Julia Gillard is a highly significant figure in Australian political history and remains active on the global stage. She served as the 27th Prime Minister of Australia from 2010 to 2013, making her the first and only woman to hold the office of Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in Australia.Born in Wales, her family migrated to Adelaide, South Australia, when she was a child. Prior to entering federal politics, she was a lawyer specializing in industrial law. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 1998 for the Victorian division of Lalor. She quickly rose through the Labor Party ranks, becoming Deputy Leader in 2006 and then Deputy Prime Minister under Kevin Rudd in 2007. After her prime ministership (2013-present), Julia Gillard has taken on numerous high-profile international and domestic roles, primarily focused on education, women's leadership, and global health.
