Yutaro Ryan Oka

Yutaro Ryan Oka is a Japanese-Canadian actor and voice artist, fluent in both Canadian English and Japanese (standard and Osaka dialect). Best known as an actor for playing Toranaga's Kosho #1 in Shogun (2024), he has worked primarily as a voice artist since 2022, lending his voice to a number of global brands.He is the founder and director of Enlight Echo LLC, a Tokyo-based localization studio that brings international content to Japanese audiences - handling translation, casting, recording and mixing in-house. Raised in Canada and educated at the University of British Columbia (BA) and the Australian National University (MA), his path has run through the UN World Food Programme in Ghana, entrepreneurship, and acting in Hollywood.Alongside his screen and voice work, he is a practitioner of Noh theatre, classical Japanese martial arts, yoga, Tibetan Buddhism and meditation - disciplines he draws on in his ongoing exploration of the human voice and the connection between breath, body and mind.
