Raisa Bonnet is a director, screenwriter, editor, producer, and professor whose work blends intimate storytelling with the social and cultural landscapes of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Her short films have screened internationally at festivals including the Berlin International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. Her debut feature, Trenzadas is a family drama set after Hurricane María that explores the bonds of motherhood within an environmental crisis. Bonnet’s work has been supported by the Puerto Rico Film Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Puerto Rico Institute of Culture, among others. She earned an MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BA in Audiovisual Communications from the University of Puerto Rico. Bonnet teaches filmmaking at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez Campus.
