Neil was born in Middlesborough and began acting with the Middlesborough Little Theatre's Junior Theatre where his first leading role was in 'Santa Clause the Musical' .He was educated at Nunthorpe school where his drama teacher encouraged him to train at the Stockton and Billingham College.
