Gylfi Sigurðsson

Gylfi Sigurdsson is the most globally-recognized Icelandic footballer current playing and seen by many as the team's 'star player'. He holds the record for the most goals scored by an Icelandic player in the Premier League. He moved to England to begin his professional career aged just 16, before securing a move to Germany with Bundesliga team Hoffenheim. After playing for Swansea and Tottenham Hotspur, Sigurdsson became the most expensive Icelandic footballer in history when he signed with Everton for £40 million. He has been voted Iceland's best footballer every year from 2012 to 2018.
