Mauro Mueller is a Mexican-Swiss writer-director-producer working across Europe and the Americas. A graduate of Columbia University’s MFA film program, he is a Sony Pictures Television Diverse Directors Fellow and a Student Academy Award® winner.He has directed the feature films The Janitor, a Mexican social drama; A Few Days in the Sun (2026), an international kidnapping thriller shot in Mexico and the Dominican Republic; and 111: Echoes from Halifax (2026), inspired by the 1998 Swissair disaster. He also co-directed the Swiss hit mystery-crime series Wilder, served as showrunner of the sitcom Our Little Embassy (2025), and was second-unit director on the sci-fi drama Awake, starring Gina Rodriguez and Jennifer Jason Leigh.His short film A World for Raúl won a Student Academy Award®, while Dear Chickens, starring Philip Baker Hall, was Oscar-qualified and screened internationally. His work has been supported by Sundance, Tribeca, Rotterdam, Cannes, and the Berlinale.As a producer, Mueller has overseen more than ten feature films across multiple territories, including Copenhagen (Audience Award, Slamdance), the sci-fi feature Cosmic Dawn, and produced alongside George R.R. Martin ´The Ugly Chickens´. He is co-owner of Fidelio, which has produced projects such as the Venice-winning drama Candelaria, the series Ruido Capital for Movistar+, and the Amazon Prime series The Head of Joaquín Murrieta.Mueller is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). He works in English, Spanish, and German and is known for character-driven stories that combine emotional depth with strong commercial appeal.
