Lawrence Yang

Lawrence Yang was born in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.During Highschool, Lawrence Yang spent many hours volunteering alongside friend Dr. Brian Yang in a Catholic Youth Group called Spiritual Candy. He involved himself deeply in musicals and plays of their own creation where they created props, costumes, backdrops, set design, characters, and dialogue.In University, Lawrence Yang took part in a student production of West Side Story in the lead role of the Polish-American "Tony" working alongside Hong Kong actress, singer, and author Bernice Liu. Bernice choreographed Lawrence Yang's dance numbers in the musical and both of them discussed their future careers in the entertainment business including potential careers as solo vocalists.While living on campus at Place Vanier at UBC, Lawrence Yang purchased a second hand violin using the classifieds and began violin lessons. His friend Phyllis Ho took him to a violin Master Class being taught by Maxim Vengerov. This class was a life changing experience for him and his love of the violin grew. Phyllis Ho inspires Lawrence to continue performing arts as an actress, musician, teacher, and linguist.Lawrence is a linguist & vocalist with an above average ability to learn accents and phoneticize various languages. He enjoys working with dialect coaches and musicians. He's exploring acting and film making and has a youtube channel with shorts and podcasts. He hosts the Break the Silos podcast for improving the health system partnered with Kate Simone.Lawrence is a passionate mixed martial arts fan and enjoys training without head strikes. Lawrence has basic martial arts skills in kickboxing, jiujitsu, bo staff and nunchukas. Lawrence enjoys stunts, racing, sparring, gymnastics and basketball. Lawrence has skills in car racing and drifting with manual transmissions and drifting. Lawrence is a beginner horse rider and an intermediate motorcyclist.
