Rui Simões(I)

Rui Simões studied Directing for Cinema and Television in the I.A.D. - Institut des Arts de Diffusion in Brussels. He iniciates a professional relationship with cinema in Belgium, as a still photographer. Later, in 1974 and in Portugal, Rui Simões starts his cinematographic activity, directing two documental feature films and three documental short movies about the Portuguese reality at the time. Since 1982 Rui Simões has created inumerous works, mostly in documentary form, developing, also, work related to art (painting, dancing, theater, architecture, music, etc). In 2024, he received the Sophia Career Award.
