Katja Ponickau

Born and raised in the east of Germany, the stage/camera has been a part of me since I was four years old. Music initially dominated my first 17 years of life. As the youngest member of an orchestra, I enjoyed the big concerts in Germany and abroad, and at the age of 9 I traveled to countries like Italy, the Netherlands and England for international competitions, and taught myself new instruments (saxophone, keyboard, drums) along the way, of which I unfortunately hardly play any today (except for the guitar, which I only started playing much later).After graduating from secondary school, my interest changed to acting. I played in an ensemble at the Landestheater Altenburg, learned to love the performing arts in all its facets of props, make-up and costumes, and applied to the drama school in Leipzig.What my youth taught me is to always be focused, to work hard for your dreams and to never give up. I am used to being on tour all the time, I love the challenges, life in the art community, because for me musicians and film people are like a big family that I have grown into and to which I feel extremely attracted.I have been in front of the camera for various German productions since 2016 (UFA, Constantin Film, Constantin Entertainment, Filmpool, action concept, BBC Germany) and now I want to continue on my path.My focus is now on TV films and film projects, as well as series, Netflix and Prime productions.
