Finis Henderson was a member of the L.A. Jazz Choir. With his deep roots in jazz, he appeared as a vocal soloist on the cut "Woodchopper's Ball" from the 1984 Grammy nominated album "Listen . . ." by the L.A. Jazz Choir. He shared the solo spotlight with Dee Dee Belson. He toured with the group briefly as his career blossomed.
