David Politzer
Born in New York City in 1949. Did graduate work in physics at Harvard where, in 1973, he solved the problem of the nature of what's known as the Strong Force, which binds atoms together, a calculation for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize for physics on Oct. 5, 2004, in conjunction with David Gross and David Wilczek.
